What is Focus VBS?

Focus VBS is a fun and creative opportunity for families and their children to come together and dive deeper to their faith. Kids will have a blast as they discover how they can trust in what they CAN’T see because of what they CAN see by putting their FOCUS on God and His amazing plan for us. Throughout this week, we will explore four different ways we can FOCUS on God: Hear, Pray, Talk and Live.

We invite you to join this experience with your children and create lasting memories and sparking conversation.

When is Focus VBS?

Focus VBS runs from July 27-31, 2020.

How does Focus VBS work?

Focus is a virtual VBS and will work similar to the WOW VBS that ran earlier this summer.

Each day, we will have a video watch party on the West End Baptist Church Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/westendbaptisthalifax/).

After the watch party, we will have a Zoom call where we talk about that day’s video, go over the memory verse, hear some stories, and complete some awesome and fun crafts.

Many of the crafts will require various materials that you may not have in your home. We will provide those supplies to you in VBS supply kits. You can choose to have your kit to be delivered to your home or you can pick it up at a predetermined time at West End Baptist Church.

• 10:00 a.m. - Preschool aged video (~20 minutes).
• 10:30 a.m. - Elementary aged video (~30 minutes)
• 11:10 a.m. - Zoom call

Each day you will be notified via email when the video will premiere on the Facebook page. The email will also include the details for the Zoom call and any other resources you may need for that day.

What is I Wonder?

Kids are naturally curious, and when you’re curious about who God is it’s easy to grow your relationship with Jesus. That’s why, in
this 4-part series for Vacation Bible School (VBS), we’re going to engage kids’ imaginations!​ Kids will not only get curious about science,
technology, engineering, and mathematics — but also about the God who created it all! They’ll hear from early church leaders like
Paul, Peter, John, and Timothy, who helped the first Jesus-followers wonder what made their stories unique, what gifts God
gave them (and how they could use those gifts to serve), what they could learn from others, and how they could spend time
with God.

When is I Wonder?

I Wonder is a virtual VBS and will run from July 8-9, 2021.

Each day from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., participants will meet at West End Baptist Church for a variety of activities including
crafts, games, songs, and stories.

What is Food Truck Party?

Food Truck Party is an in-person VBS for Grades P-5.

Food Truck Party VBS invites children in Grades P-5 to get on a roll with God as a parade of Food Trucks rolls into their neighborhood for the summer's biggest party!

This VBS invites children to pray as Jesus teaches us in Matthew 6:11; "Give us this day our daily bread." These words serve as a reminder that everything we have comes from God — and that it's by turning to God in prayer that all of our daily needs are met.

At the center of the Food Truck Party is a special food truck called "On a Roll." Here, Kids (or "Chefs") will learn from the food truck's Top Chef, along with DJ Cupcake (an adorable cupcake puppet), about the Daily Specials (Daily Learnings), which are lines from the well-loved prayer that teaches us to turn to God to meet our needs..

Each day from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., participants will meet at West End Baptist Church for a variety of activities including crafts, games, songs, and stories. A light lunch and snack will also be provided.

What is Mission: Deep Sea?

MIssion: Deep Sea is an in-person VBS for Grades P-5.

A crew of deep sea explorers from the Sea Exploration Agency are on a mission to explore the deepest depths of the ocean, in search of knowledge about its Creator — and you’re invited too, as a SEA agent in training! As our crew travels deeper and deeper below the surface, experience the wonders of creation, face a few challenges, and discover that knowing our Creator doesn’t require a special badge or a submarine. Our faith grows deeper when we spend time with God, spend time with others, use our gifts to serve, and share our stories of faith.

 

When is Mission: Deep Sea?

Mission: Deep Sea runs from August 9 - 13, 2021.
